The Milwaukee Irish
Fest Youth Choir was founded in 1988 under the direction of Pat Moschea and Ed
Ward as a project to promote interest among youth in the rich tradition of Irish
Song. The choir is made up of auditioned people between the ages of 14 and 20
.
These dedicated young people rehearse a variety of choral music and
perform at Irish Fest and other places throughout the year. The choir has performed
in Ireland, and locally at the Wisconsin State Fair, Rainbow Summer, and has sung
the National Anthem for the Milwaukee Brewers.
In Summer of 2003, the choir met with the Omagh Community Youth Choir from Northern Ireland and performed in Washington DC, New York City (St. Patrick's Cathedral) and in Philadelphia. The choirs then returned in time to perform at Milwaukee Irish Fest. In 2004 and 2005 the choir performed around the state and in Minnesota and traveled to Ireland again in 2006.
