Bill Murray was born in Wilmette, Illinois to a large Irish Catholic family. Three of his brothers are also actors and they all appeared in the 1988 film Scrooged. In 1973 Bill joined Second City in Chicago as a comic. This is where he met John Belushi. In 1975 Belushi & Murray were hired by the National Lampoon Radio Hour in New York. Bill gained fame as a cast member and writer for Saturday Night Live from 1977-1980. He is remembered for his characters as a conehead, lounge singer Nick, and the nerd Todd. Since 1975 he has made 43 films playing mostly comedy roles. His most popular films include Caddyshack (1980), Stripes (1981), Ghostbusters (1984) and Groundhog Day (1993). He was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in Lost in Translation (2003). Bill remains a true Cubs fan and promoter of Chicago.
