The Ward Irish Music Archives hosts a tune swap and slow session every month. Jeff Ksiazek, WIMA's Archivist, teaches a tune during the first hour, and the remaining time is spent playing tunes in a slow session. The goal is to introduce different tunes into Milwaukee's traditional Irish music community and to rekindle interest in tunes that don't get played much in our sessions. The slow session is a perfect opportunity for newcomers to Irish music to play tunes in a safe, stress free environment.
Ksiazek started the tune swap as part of the Celtic Music Club at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. As a new home for the tune swap, the Archives are a perfect setting for introducing new music, and Ksiazek plans on using the Archives' collections to find new tunes for the Irish music community to learn and enjoy.
This event is free and open to the public.
Check out our events calendar for future tune swap dates and times!
