Feargal O’Donnell and Mary Sullivan of Ireland's new Irish Family History Foundation will describe the Foundation's activities and its offerings in "Irish Genealogy: Sources for Beginners", "How to Trace Your Ancestry," and "Emigration to America."
Tomás mác Conmara of County Clare will tell of The
Mountjoy Hunger Strike of 1917, while Alister McReynolds of Northern Ireland will speak on Famous Americans of Ulster Scots Origin and Ulster Scots in the United Irishmen Movement of the 1790s. Dr. Timothy Campbell, Director of the St Patrick Centre in County Armagh returns to introduce the Centre's Young Ambassadors program.
As always, the Hedge School will feature presentations by authors of books on Irish topics. Dr. Timothy McMahon of Marquette University will speak on his new book Grand Opportunity: The Gaelic Revival and Irish Society, 1893-1910, while popular children's book author Cindy Matyi will introduce her new work Little Town of Spirals. She and other writers will participate in a panel Discussion of female authors on Saturday. The Hedge School will finish the festival on Sunday Evening with its Annual Irish Poetry Event.
