Celtic music is rich in the culture and traditions of Ireland and beyond, and Milwaukee Irish Fest rolls out the finest for the festival's 30th Anniversary celebration in August.
2010 will feature the "Northern Ireland Showcase." McPeake will bring their blend of traditional, acoustic and folk music to Milwaukee as this fourth-generation family group makes its first appearance. Different Drums of Ireland returns with their rich symbolism of the Lambeg and bodhran drums representing the traditions of the north. Len Graham and Brian Hart are both accomplished musicians and will combine their talents at the festival. Another newcommer, Kieran Goss is well known for his folk, pop, and alternative music. Longtime Irish Fest friends Tommy Sands, Tom Sweeney, and Seamus Kennedy, all natives of Northern Ireland also return.
Another feature for 2010 will be daily "Legends of Irish Folk" shows. Various artists will appear together, including Evans and Doherty, Schooner Fare, Tommy Sands, Tom Sweeney, Seamus Kennedy, the Makem and Spain Brothers, Eugene Byrne and more!
These performances will pay tribute to the music of the Clancy Brothers, Tommy Makem, folk music of the north, and songs from Dublin.
The Celtic Rock Stage wil be hopping with the sounds of the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Screaming Orphans, Young Dubliners and more.
Also returning to Irish Fest this year will be favorites such as Gaelic Storm, La Bottine Souriante, The Celtic Tenors and more. Watch the Web site in May for a stage schedule.
